It was inevitable that as the sport of racquetball grew, women would play an important part in it. There's been a rapidly increasing influx of women into racquetball and today they comprise more than forty percent of the more than 10 million players.
Racquetball offers all the vital ingredients that women seek in a sport: it's easy to learn, it's exciting and fun, it provides an intense workout in less than an hour, and it provides a social atmosphere in a relaxed, friendly environment. It can be played day or night, regardless of weather conditions, and it is inexpensive compared to most sports as it requires little equipment.
Already the fastest growing sport, racquetball's popularity could conceivably attract more women into the game than now play tennis or bowl. Soon we may see women comprise half of the racquetball players.
